FAQ
Venus is sometimes called Earth's "sister planet" because they have similar sizes and masses. However, Venus's hellish surface (900K temperature, sulfuric acid atmosphere) makes it hostile to life, unlike Earth.
Europa (moon of Jupiter) and Enceladus (moon of Saturn) likely have subsurface water oceans beneath their icy shells. Earth's Moon has confirmed water ice in permanently shaded craters near its poles. Titan (Saturn) has liquid methane lakes on surface.
Not in the traditional sense. Pluto's surface temperature (-230°C) is so cold that nitrogen, methane, and water freeze solid. However, geological evidence suggests "cryovolcanic" eruptions of water ice occur, and seasonal atmospheric changes do happen due to its elliptical orbit.
Pluto, formerly the ninth planet, was reclassified as a "dwarf planet" in 2006 by the IAU. Many people grew up calling it a planet, making its demotion emotionally significant. However, Uranus is often "forgotten" in planetary discussions, sometimes called the most overlooked planet.
